The Blind Welfare Association, Amravati, was founded in February 1966 with a mission to promote the overall welfare and rehabilitation of visually impaired individuals. The Trust is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1960 and the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950.
The Association began its journey by starting a school for blind students in July 1966 with just 10 students in a rented space. Supported entirely by public donations, the Trust later acquired land from the Government and constructed its own building. In recognition of a generous contribution by Dr. Narendra Bhivapurkar, the school was named after him.
The school provides education up to the Seventh Standard, after which students pursue higher studies in regular schools and colleges alongside sighted students. The Trust continues its efforts to upgrade the institution to a full-fledged High School.
